the docking adapter isnt necessary for anything unless you want to
record directly from the tv, ive never had a need for that. i use miro
to download maybe 20 or so video podcasts, and sync the player on sunday
to make my hour half commute a bit more pleasant during the week. Ive
had a 404 for a couple years, and have been very pleased with it.  once
you get use to the somewhat weird key combinations its a great little 30
gig player.   the only thing that it really didnt come with that it
should was a few codecs, had to pay 20 bucks for them.  id recommend it
for "tech savvy" people.  if you can setup myth, you can use an archos.
