[mythtv-users] Storage Groups and auto expire problem

To summarize a program just autoexpired, and I don't think it should have.
The logs showed when the program was scheduled it wants 0 MiB free, but it
actually expired the program with about 2GB free. And that is the way it
worked prior to Storage Groups.  What this means to this particular setup is
I'll be autoexpiring stuff when I have plenty of space in the Default
storage group available via NFS. From what I understand of the storage
groups it shouldn't have done that, it should have recorded the programs on
one of the NFS partitions since the local disk is almost full.

Would changing the amount of space the backend is supposed to keep open help
with this issue, or will it still be off?

With 2 tuners in one box and 1 in the other, how does one choose an amount
of space to be left free without knowing the length of the recordings ahead
of time?  ie I don't want to leave 12.2GB free because I might record a two
hour program on NG and a movie at the same time.

Prior to storage groups I used a couple myth_archive.pl jobs to move the
files after recording.  This was fairly easy to keep some space available
without autoexpiring what I wanted to keep in part because a perl and bash
script which listed where the actual programs resided.  Perhaps it's because
I am not undertanding Storage Groups as much as I like, but it seems its
just making things more complicated and I was hoping it would be more
automated and easier to keep track of things through the frontend and/or
mythweb.

What would make it easier to keep track of things?

AutoExpirer wants to keep 0 MiB free.
