I should also add...in my case I run xwindows as the mythtv user. If
you run yours as root, you probably don't want to start mythfrontend
as the root user, so you would launch the frontend with:
su - mythtv -c "mythfrontend -v important -l /var/log/mythtv/mythfrontend.log"
