Since this took me *forever* to figure out last time it came up
(though I'm sure it's blindingly obvious to everyone else), here's how
to get "old" kernels for Fedora that aren't available via yum. For
some reason, I didn't find the koji (or any other) download site via
google when I looked:
1) The kernels are at
http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/packageinfo?packageID=8 (may have
to scroll to page 2 to see 2.6.23 kernels).
2) I've had success in downgrading the kernel with the following
sequence (whether it's the "right" way or not):
a) wget the desired kernel from above
b) yum remove kernel-<current_latest_kernel>
c) rpm -i <kernel_rpm_from_step_a>
3) As a side note, it doesn't appear that I need kmdls for ivtv or
lirc anymore (at least for an old MCE remote and PVR-150 tuners), so
I'm left with just the Nvidia drivers that are kernel-specific (and
those are relatively easy to install directly). I don't use ieee1394
though
YMMV, of course.
