Probably. I've run Linux on Sparcs, MIPS, PPC Macs, ARM and, my
personal favorite, the late Alpha.
"Buggier" might not be the best description, certainly fewer "exotic"
packages were ported, especially multimedia stuff. We were running
with no dynamic libraries on the Alpha for more than a year after they
were usable on intel, and the move to ELF was delayed as well.
Interestingly, the ARM CPU is now the third most popular CPU for
Debian, probably because of the port to the NSLU2.
