Many many capture cards (or perhaps I should say "devices") work with Linux
and MythTV. Some are specifically designed for Linux and won't work well with
Windows, so I'd question how much the BB guy knows.
Be very careful of technical "advice" from a BB "expert", you'll get much
better advice here.
Some of that advice was to specify what it is you want to capture. Analog
cable? Digital cable? OTA? Satellite?
Where are you? That makes a difference?
Many cards that work with Linux and Myth are described in the WiKi and in the
archives of this list.
A device that's "good" for one user is useless for another, it all depends on
your application.
