I almost missed your question because you replied to the AppleTV  
thread and changed the subject instead of starting a new thread.

There's a setting for what you want to do. It's based on time. By  
default, if you're looking at a guide and the program that you have  
selected will start in 15 minutes or less, hitting select will change  
to that channel. Otherwise, it will take you to the recording options.  
If 15 minutes doesn't work for you, you can change it to what you  
like. I'm not in front of my myth box at the moment so you'll have to  
look for this setting or someone else can direct you to it.
