Are you using an ATI video card? This problem occurs with an ATI card, I've
just moved over to nvidia to fix this very issue.

It is known about, but I'm unsure if a fix will happen.

My New Box:
> Mythbuntu 8.04 fully patched
> MythTV 0.21.20
> ATI Catalyst driver 8.7
> AMD Athalon X2 64 B4850
> Gigabyte MA78GM-S2H with AMD 780 Northbridge & ARI HD 3200 Graphics
> Avermedia Super 007 (Digital Only) saa7133 & tda8290

Ah.. Yes, I see you are....

You can also clear it by entering the embedded video EPG and leaving that
(sometimes takes a few goes though)

It happens when the resolution of the channels differes, it's not just from
HD to SD and vice versa.
