Wow, this turned into a donnybrook. I want to correct a typo I made.
I should have said RG-6Q instead of RG-6U. As an aside, I use only
high quality RG-6Q
That aside, you are not going to have a problem of radiation out of
in-home cable from running an attenuated version of a CATV signal
through it. You will get less radiation that you would get if the
cable companies filter was missing.
So, forget about the radiation from the in home wiring in this
example. It cannot be worse then if the homeowner just ordered cable.
In fact, it will be less by the attenuation of the bandstop filter
that the cable company supplies. OK, that is settled.
So, the only question was will this attenuated signal make it up to
the antenna. I say this low level CATV signal will not make it
through the bandstop filter + the splitter isolation + the reverse
isolation of the amplifier.
That said, as I said from the beginning, if it were me I would run
another cable, which is what the guy is going to do.
