Did you mean to say you have a E6600, and NOT a P4 660? The 6600 should 
be MORE than enough to work. I have an E2180 with an 8400GT card, and 
without XvMC, I can watch 1080i with about 50% CPU on one core to a 57" 
Sony RPTV. You have something setup wrong somewhere, and it's not the CPU.
