 I never see this since just before 0.21, If you have specific small examples
put a ticket into trac with links to them, or if you have backtraces that could
be useful.

 Unfortunately I can't test this as I have none of those but like

 You can patch the Internal player for CoreAVC, but my frontend i
that plays HD material doesn't need it so I've never used it myself.
