You understand incorrectly. ;) MythTV will attempt to balance  
recordings among the storage directories you have specified.

So basically, when you set up the second one it will start recording  
immediately to it until it reaches the same as the first, then it will  
stagger recordings between them to keep them as full as each other  
like you want to have happen.
