It was running Mandriva 2008, which is what I run on everything except my myth box. I'm not sure if the Eee has the 1.6GHz Atom chip or a slower model, but it certainly seemed underpowered. Its display is only 640x480 but it struggled with some of the dvix files I threw at it. Now it's fair to say that these were being played from a USB memory stick, but even so my 1.8GHz Athlon box plays them back from the hard drive with no trouble at all on a 1024x768 display. Now, that box itself struggles to do full screen 800x600 playback of DVB-T when deinterlacing is turned on, so my view is that the Atom would just get nowhere.

All that said, the board you linked to does have an onboard MPEG decoder chip, so if that can be used by mythtv it might make up for the main CPU's lack of grunt. I still wouldn't like to try transcoding or commercial flagging on it though.

It might just manage SD content but it certainly won't do deinterlacing or HD playback. I'm not sure if it's the same spec as that board but I was thinking of getting an atom board for a frontend and the Eee changed my mind.
