Weren't you folks getting heavy snow out there?  That can wreak havoc on
satellite feeds; it apparently absorbs RF quite well, especially if it
starts to collect in the dish.  When I was a college student in
Houghton, MI we used to have snow-related dropouts on our campus cable
system from time to time.
