[mythtv-users] Backing up video with amanda

Greets, mythtv-users,

I recently ebayed a tape library for backing up my stuff.
It's a 20-slot DLT-library so it has ~800 GB capacity uncompressed.

I use AMANDA ( http://www.amanda.org ) with it and everything is doing
OK so far.

Now I think of dumping my mythtv-videos to tape, by including the
relevant files in my amanda-config and let the cronjobs roll ...

It would be easy to just include my mythtv:/mnt/media and let go, but I
don't want to waste space and time with backing up stuff that is
auto-expired or deleted soon anyway.

So I look for a clever way to only include the more important
recordings, for example only the ones which are marked as "autoexpire: no".

So how could I solve this?

Generate a list of those files by executing a db-query?

Is it possible to have mythtv rename those files automatically, for
example by using a defined prefix or suffix, which I could then use for
inclusion with AMANDA?

The most elegant way would for sure be to be able to set some flag
within the frontend: "Backup: Y/N" for each recording.

Maybe the solution is closer than I think.

I would really appreciate your thoughts on this.

Thanks a lot, Stefan.
