[mythtv-users] Radio Times xmltv Howto?

Hello,
I am in the same position as one of the posters earlier in this
thread in that I have had Myth with EIT data running for some time.
Moving to the Radio Times XMLTV data seems to be a good step for a few
reasons so I went back to Garry Parkers excellent tutorial site.

Garry advocates the use of a script 'updateid' to do some
database manipulations and suggests in his notes that the script
assumes that the root account for the database has no password. When I
run the script however, I get an "Access Denied" message for user
root. Oddly, if I run "mysql -u root -p" from the command line, I am
prompted for a password, but by simply hitting 'Enter', I can get into
the monitor program.

I do not remember ever creating a password and it would seem that
I do not have one from the command line; I guess that this boils down
to how do I get the script to work?

TIA.
