[mythtv-users] changed monitors now my display is messed up

I had to move this frontend to another room where
the monitor has a lower resolution.

Now the display is really messed up.

So I hit Ctrl-Alt-F2 and got to the console.
Then I typed "setup" and selected "X configuration".
But this starts X to do the configuration.
So I end up back in the messed up display.

How do I re-configure my display at the console
without going into X right away?
