Hmmm... If I leave myth running in the menu, everything restores just 
fine.  But if I shut down the system while I'm playing a recording, then 
X won't restore properly; I have a black screen.  I have to unload and 
load the nvidia module to get X back.  Are you using XVMC?  I am.  Maybe 
that's why it doesn't get restored....

Since I want to boot to the main menu anyway, this is not a big deal for 
me, except that it adds a few seconds to the boot.

(Aside:  You would think there's some consistency to this.  I still feel 
we need to have a sacrificial altar and burn an offering once in a while 
to the god of high tech to get it all to work.)
