[mythtv-users] MythTV frontend without TV tuner or MySQL backend

Hi folks,

This might be a stupid question but I thought I'd ask anyway...

I've just recently acquired a new LCD HDTV. My eventual plan is to
build a MythTV box which I can put a couple of tuner cards in to record
my favourite TV programmes etc.

However at the moment that really isn't an option (funds and wife-to-be
don't allow).

My desktop PC however has got a dual core CPU and a whole load of memory
which I'm sure isn't being used to it's full potential at the moment.

Rather than use my desktop PC as a complete MythTV box, I was wondering
if it was possible to just install the front end for playing my existing
video files, DVDs, music files and emulators with the second DVI output
going to the LCD TV.

Does this sound feasible or would I have to also install the complete
MythTV backend too?

Ta,

Rob
