I'd have thought you should be getting a stonking DVB-T signal where
you are, assuming you're using a roof mounted antenna.

Maybe your antenna is not designed for freeview, in which case it
might be simpler and cheaper just to upgrade the antenna?

Of course that wouldn't be as much fun as playing around with a
satellite set up.
