I have found that I need to re-encode almost any OTA recording, since it
is almost never in DVD-compatible format. (720x480, max bitrate of 9Mb/s
I think)

If when you get to that screen, the default is set to one of the
re-encode options, instead "Don't re-encode", it seems that Mytharchive
is smart enough to know that the file or recording *needs* to be
re-encoded to be DVD-compatible.

This would probably apply to QAM recordings, as well.

For recordings from my PVR-350, it is setup to only record in 720x480
format, with a bitrate that is within the acceptable range for DVD
recordings, so when I choose to archive a recording from this card, it
seems to always default to "Don't re-encode".

Not sure if this is the behavior you are seeing, just thought I'd pass
along my observations.
