I had a similar issue with my HDHomeRun, it turned out I was having
network issues on my 10/100 network. If I was playing back on my
remote frontend and recording at the same time I would see a lot of
jerkiness, not only in the playback of what I was watching, but there
would also be problems with the shows recorded at those high traffic
times.
What I did to solve this was I added a second network adapter to my
backend and connected the HDHomerun to that (technically I connected
them both to an extra switch that I had) and I haven't seen that issue
since. Upgrading to Gigabit ethernet probably would have fixed it as
well.
