Don't believe a word of it. It most certainly did make the mailing
list, and is also there to read on Gossamer:

I hadn't replied because I didn't have any suggestions to make, so I
hope you get a more helpful response soon. There have been some
sound-related commits so you may want to update to the latest trunk
revision.
