I did do a memtest but the output displayed on the monitor was all
garbled for whatever reason.  Also, I ran a live CD but it wouldn't
boot very far and left me with a continuous 'segfault' message every 5
seconds.

Now that I can't even power on the machine I think the only thing I
can do from here is get a new PSU.
