I have an Abit IL-90MV that worked out of the box with audio over HDMI,
at least once I'd realised the audio was muted! I was very pleasantly
surprised. However I wanted another of these boards but can't seem to
find anywhere that sells it. But anyway, chipset for audio and video is
Intel and I've really come round to the idea that Intel is the way to go
these days.
