That's funny.  There's no reason to believe that.  Most stations that
I'm aware of are broadcasting both 16:9 and 4:3 versions of their main
programming on separate subchannels.  So again, record the 4:3
subchannel, not the 16:9 subchannel.

The only exception that I know of so far is PBS, where their HD channel
carries different programming; they don't broadcast non-HDTV material on
their HD channel, but they provide four 4:3 non-HD subchannels with
different programming.

It's unfortunate, because ATSC supports 17 different formats, and TV
manufacturers should expect people to channel surf.  Most HDTVs now have
on native format and convert the other formats to that one before
sending it to the screen, so there should be no issue with format
changing mid-stream on those TVs.
