All you need for this end of it is a fileserver.

Infact, what you need on the MythTV (mythvideo) end of it is a fileserver.

If I didn't watch TV, I could dump MythTV and just run a bunch of
popcorn hour machines tied back to the NFS server that's running
anyways.
