It turned out that it was a comedy of errors - The NIC was disabled in the
BIOS, and my backend was hard coded to listen only on 127.0.0.1. I guess I
understand the need to force a connection test, but it would be nice to be
able to launch a terminal or _something_ that would allow me to troubleshoot
the issue. It's extremely frustrating to not be able to do anything but go
back or quit.

Again, I was trapped in the installation UI and didn't see any obvious way
to launch a command line. Plus it appears that the MySQL troubleshooting
pages on the Wiki have changed and I couldn't find the command example to
connect to the backend over MySQL.

Interesting. I had thought that maybe it was a uPNP  thing. Thanks.
