And on the "and" (I'm assuming you're asking why MythTV--yes, I meant to
capitalize that--can't access the card with its permissions set to 660;
i.e. "why can't mythtv access the card with[out] 775 permissions"),
remember that often there are various users involved in running the 3
different main parts of MythTV. Sometimes the backend is run as one
user (i.e. root) while the frontend is run as another (i.e. mythtv) and
mythtv-setup may be run as another (i.e. whatever user you logged in as).
Note, also, that the difference between real and effective uid may
become important, depending on your system configuration.
