update: cat /dev/video0 > test.mpg makes a watchable video, ivtvctl -c
changes the channel. so why can't mythtv find or "probe" the card?
can't find anything in the wiki, it just says test by making an mpg.

only root can make the video though, trying as a user gives
"permission denied."  shouldn't users have access? is there a group I
have to add users and mythtv to to have access?
