I didn't use the new Nvidia driver very long, so I can't comment on its
performance.  I reverted because I lost a feature that I needed (more for
asthetics than performance).

As for the studdering... is it when the OSD is up?  I get studdering when
the OSD comes up (e.g. the menu or fast forward/rewind).
