Thanks to everyone who has answered. It's all helpful.

My decision here was to keep my old 0.20 server running for a while
but move the PVR cards to the new machine which will be 0.21 based.
I've got the new machine booting a newish Gentoo kernel and am
searching for the right ivtv driver to match with 2.6.24-gentoo-r4.
Hopefully ivtv will come up and I can start recording this evening
using this new server.

In the meantime 4 of the existing frontends will have access to the
older backend and older recordings until I can verify that the new
backend is working well with my local 0.21 frontend. At that time I'll
update the rest of the machines to 0.21 and hopefully everyone will be
happy.

Again, thanks for the responses.

cheers,
Mark
