WARNING: a whole lot of pipe dreams, conjecture, and factless fancy
follows, Become enthralled at your own risk. You have been warned.

Please forgive me if this was already discussed. I searched the
gossamer threads archive, my own gmail archive and the general web
before posting to try to avoid that end.

Thus begins....

Being that I still live in a pipe dream world, while searching for
M-Card capture cards the other day I ran across the following blog
post by Chris Lanier talking about a bi-directional M-Card capture
card in development by Ceton Corporation.

Well, that tweaked my curiosity. Of course, knowing full well that all
OCUR solutions available right now are Windows Vista only, I was just
trying to satisfy curiosity to see what was being developed. The first
place I ended up in my search was on an AVSForum thread, and come to
find out it had some participation by the Vice President of Systems
Integration over at Ceton Corporation.

Some of Jeremy's answers (specifically the no-comment ones) got me
interested in what Ceton might be planning or maybe open to, so I took
a visit to their website to look at their products:

Now, obviously the "M-Card cable tuner board for Windows Vista" is
what we have been hearing about until now. And while it's very
interesting, I think in the end it's a dead-end road. What I found
that I thought was *really* interesting was the "Eclipse Development
Board" that they list there. clicking on it for more information
yields the following very interesting text at the bottom of the page:

- Windows and Linux Drivers with extensive API documentation

So now I'm very interested of course... has anyone heard or seen
anything about this Eclipse board? The info on their website is very
sparse, and not particularly useful. However, the block diagram, etc
all look very similar to what the "M-Card Cable tuner board for
Windows Vista" looked like... which is what has me hopeful about this
whole thing.

Cheers,

Scott Blomfield
