In some cases, I've heard of 1080p over component (apparently the
interface does have enough bandwidth), but I believe that most TVs max
out at 1080i over it.
The resolutions being quoted sound like they're for VGA and not DVI -
although anything is possible.
If you have a DVI port on your video card, then just use a DVI to HDMI
cable for the video. Most TVs, I would imagine (I know mine does)
have a separate set of analog inputs to accept audio for either VGA,
DVI or HDMI connectoins.
