[mythtv-users] HD TV doesn't accept HD resolutions on DVI input?

I have the Panasonic TH-58PZ700U 58" plasma:
http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/shop/Televisions/Plasma-HDTVs/model.TH-58PZ700U
It's a nice TV, but there's something odd in the manual. Is says it
supports the true HD resolutions (720p, 1080i, 1080p) only on HDMI and
component (*). On the DVI, it says it supports only some bulls**t
resolutions that are not the true HD. See table at the end of the
message for a complete list.
My question is - are they telling the truth? Or maybe the TV does
support standard HD on DVI but it's not mentioned in the manual?
Of course, the best would be if I could actually do a test. But
unfortunately I've no DVI source available for that. So I was wondering
if someone else has experience with a situation like this.
It would make a lot of things much easier if I knew for a fact that
1080p is supported on DVI. Then I could just get a cheap GeForce with
DVI and forget the HDMI/component stuff.
(*) - even on component, it says it only supports 1080i, not 1080p.
List of DVI resolutions claimed to be supported:
