   Yes, data on stdout says it is set to x11.

   Ok, I'm definitetly lost. There is no OpenGL output option in "TV / 
playback options". There is one called "drawing engine" in "theme options" 
(sorry, I don't know if this is correct as my mythtv is in spanish), but it 
is set to "Qt", not "OpenGL".

   No luck.

   Things get more bizarre. I changed from MythCenter theme to GANT and the 
framerate increased a lot (although It was not good enough). But after reset, 
still with GANT and making no other changes, framerate dropped again. This 
also happened after disabling "use transparent boxes" in Qt config screen and 
with a few other test, including moving from GANT to MythCenter. The problem 
is that they seem not to be reproducible. And the improvement is far away 
from mplayer nearly perfect playback.
   
   With so much CPU time available and mplayer working fine, could it be some 
kind of sync problem? Well, I don't know.
