I have to agree. When I installed my 1st mythtv setup It was around the .10
or .11 days it was a little more tricky back then than it is now. I jsut
reinstalled my myth box 2 weeks ago as I was still running .19 and wanted to
go with the SD listings. I was working within under 45 mins, alot faster
than now a days. and with the ISO distros out there newbie with linux can
get running alot easier as well. This time awround I installed MythDora as
my hardware needs to be upgraded as its outdated.. i went this route as I
didnt have the time do it all manually like I orgiinally did. (rumor has it
my wife decided we are getting me PCs for Xmas so my AMD machine I have now
wioll become my mythfrontend, and the box I ave now will be a Backend, so I
decided to ake the quicker route and then re-install in Dec.

I think this depends a lot on what your learning curve is. For
someone who's new to Linux, it's going to be steep and they'll spend
a *lot* of time. In fact, I don't think I'd recommend building a
MythTV system to someone who didn't have any Linux experience.

If you *do* have Linux experience, the core parts of MythTV really
aren't much harder to install than any other app, these days. I had
my first system up and running and able to record within a couple of
hours, and my last reinstall took less than an hour. Actually, the
most time-consuming part is getting LIRC to work, which isn't a
MythTV package at all.
