I'm guessing that the reason you're having trouble playing HD is more
related to the fact that it's a combination front/back than anything.

My dedicated frontend is a Dell Dimension 4700C with a 3 Ghz P4 and it
plays HD flawlessly without XvMC...about 55% cpu when doing bob
deinterlacing and about 25-30% for 720p.
