I have a Dish 322 with a receiver/blaster from saturnpc.net. The blaster is physically located behind the receiver, so the IR is transmitted across the room, hits the wall, and comes back (about 35' round trip) and I can't remember the last time I missed a channel change. Granted the saturnpc blaster has a capacitor to store energy for when it's sending IR, so depending on your setup YMMV.
