It's definitely worth going dual core.

I would recommend looking at at BE-2350.  This is AMD's new low power (45w)
dual core CPU.  It compares with a Athlon X2 4000+.

I recently purchased a mobo combo with this CPU at Fry's for $78.

It runs a lot cooler in place of the Athlon XP 2600+  that it replaced.
