To add a few data points:
I'm running ivtv 1.0.0 as shipped with 2.6.22.4 with SMP and preempt
enabled. I just swapped out a PVR-500 for a PVR-250 and started
experiencing the garbled captions problem with no other changes.
According to Richard Woelk using a PVR-250 ivtv versions 0.10.1 and
1.0.0 have this problem while version 0.10.0 does not.
On Sept 16th, Hans Verkuil posted to the ivtv-users mailing list
that he needed access to a machine with a PVR-250 or PVR-350 installed
located in the US and with the latest v4l-dvb repo installed in order
to fix this problem.
