With the latest patches, I can play back BBC HD smoothly on a C2D 2.1 system
with a Nvidia 7100GS.  My Mac Mini with a Core Duo (not C2D) with the intel
GPU still stutters slightly.

If you only intend to watch BBC HD - I'd recommend staying with a DVB-S
(which are cheaper and are fine for BBC HD), rather than DVB-S2 until Linux
support becomes more widespread for the S2 cards.
