Not exactly. The PVR500 has a LNA, which is supposed to be Low Noise
Amplifier but in reality it is a very poor amp that causes video
artifacts if your input signal is not perfect.

I have not experienced the audio problems but I have experienced the
video problems. The video problem was with the LNA on I got faint
diagonal lines in one or both directions depending on what channel I
was watching. With the LNA off the signal on the second tuner was very
snowy but the first tuner was worse than my pvr250 but watchable.  I
fought this for over 6 months but ended up buying a second PVR150 for
$55 at newegg and my pvr500 sits as a paperweight on my desk.
