I think that the technology (hardware, software, and the business and legal 
side of it) moves so quickly that it's pointless to make predictions. It 
could be that MythTV will become unworkable as digital TV becomes more common 
(probably for legal and business reasons and their impact on hardware, such 
as the in-limbo broadcast flag); or it could be that new devices will make 
MythTV capable of directly recording even encrypted digital content quite 
easily; or it could be something in-between or on some sort of tangent (say, 
technology to re-encode the HD output of set-top-boxes). More than a few 
months out, the technological future is just too hazy to make out clearly.
