Actually, it was a 7600 GT.  And, unfortunately, it didn't work either.
Not with trunk and not with mythtv-vid. :o(  Using the 8776 driver
always returns the same, bad results.  I get a black screen etc... plus
the dreaded "(WW) NVIDIA(0): WAIT(...)"  log entries in my Xorg.0.log
file.

I'm still operating under the delusion (or 'hope') that the main
problem, the sync issue, is an nVidia driver bug and that it will be
fixed at some point.
