Hi Rich,

So much is guided by personal preference. I've been in your shoes a couple
of times now.

If it were me, assuming your system is working OK now, I'd either use the
additional 160 drive that I already have, adding it to the LVM array, or buy a
large drive to mount internally and adding it to the LVM array. No point in
ditching the current 160 drive with your system on it right now unless you
need the space in the box, or you want to start all over.

Reasoning is that an external drive is yet another "thing" to clutter up the
viewing area, while putting it in the box makes it invisible, and perhaps
another 160 GB of program storage will hold you over 'til 0.21.

Then, next time you feel the need to upgrade, drive costs will be less and it
will be easier to justify the purchase of a huge drive. Maybe 0.21 will be out
by then and that would be a perfect time to rebuild with one or two huge
drives and transition to storage groups. Also, once you start recording in HD
you'll eat up storage space like it's going out of style. Then put the two 160's
and whatever other drives you have lying around into a nice NAS (using
recycled bits, naturally) for general storage of whatever, and to create a
place to put a backup.

I'm one of the freaks on the list that believes you can't have too much
storage space. I'm currently replacing the two 400 GB drives in my master
backend with a pair of 750's. The 400's will be added to the other 3 in my
NAS to make a RAID 5 array giving me about 1.5 TB on each.
