Not sure where to start on this one:

A "backend", by definition, has to have capture devices, otherwise why
have it?

MySQL *will* run on a slug (aka NSLU2) but very slowly, as will a web
server, but even more slowly.

The slugs are fun little toys, I've used them for everything from mail
servers to web servers to audio playback devices. Folks have used them
as Asterisk servers, running entire PBXes on them.

But I think you are asking too much of that little ARM CPU and small
amount of RAM to do anything serious as a Myth backend, even if you
could get USB-based video capture devices working with it.

I've been on the MythTV and the NSLU2 user's lists for years, and I
think you are fighting a losing battle.
