[mythtv-users] MythTV as a DVD player

Just wanted to chime in to say that I (am trying to) use MythDVD
almost exclusively for dvds as well. I'm also having issues, using
recent SVN, but I haven't had the time to troubleshoot the issue. I
only know that it used to work almost flawlessly which is why my
standalone dvd player no longer sits in my cabinet. Things I've
noticed are:
- Menus don't line up properly when using overscan settings. I use
manual overscan because otherwise I can see the extra "data" white
lines in recordings, and this throws off the menu placement in
mythDVD. What would be nice is to be able to say "MythDVD ignores
overscan setting".
- Recently, more and more dvds don't play properly. I chalk this up
to Arccos protection or some other "anti-piracy" scheme in use by the
studios. Either the movie doesn't start, or it just freezes halfway
through. I've had to resort to my PS2 for playback, which doesn't
have the surround sound hooked up to it and it just sucks to have to
resort back to stereo sound.
- I use the auto-detection feature in Myth, but sometimes it's as if
it recognizes the disk as something other than a dvd. I get extra
options in the menu that pops up such as "Browse Videos", and on
occasion the disk won't eject with the button. I've had to SSH to the
box and using the cli "eject" command.
