This may not be your issue however I am currently using the same distro
as you with no issues. The only thing I see different is that you
installed into /usr/local and I installed into /usr, did you set up the
paths to allow your system to "see" your files? You might try
uninstalling myth and recompiling with --prefix=/usr to make it a system
wide install.
