[mythtv-users] Problems with new connections for PVR-150/250

Hi,
I'm in the process of bring up MythTV after a hardware failure.
Since I was previously using mysql-4 I'm also updating to mysql-5 and
most everything else in the system which is of course going to lead to
a few problems. Hopefully someone will understand the errors I've
created and point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance.

The first problem I'm having is that I don't think I've made the
logical connections correctly in mythtv-setup. I have not changed my
kernel or the ivtv driver and those were working fine yesterday with
the old setup so I presume they will work fine today with the new
setup if I can figure out the correct video devices to use.

The distro is Gentoo. Here's what I see in the /dev/v4l directory:

mark at dragonfly ~ $ ls -al /dev/v4l/*
crw-rw---- 1 root video 81, 224 May 14 09:49 /dev/v4l/vbi0
crw-rw---- 1 root video 81, 225 May 14 09:49 /dev/v4l/vbi1
crw-rw---- 1 root video 81, 0 May 14 09:49 /dev/v4l/video0
crw-rw---- 1 root video 81, 1 May 14 09:49 /dev/v4l/video1
crw-rw---- 1 root video 81, 24 May 14 09:49 /dev/v4l/video24
crw-rw---- 1 root video 81, 25 May 14 09:49 /dev/v4l/video25
crw-rw---- 1 root video 81, 32 May 14 09:49 /dev/v4l/video32
crw-rw---- 1 root video 81, 33 May 14 09:49 /dev/v4l/video33
mark at dragonfly ~ $

When I attempted to make the connections in mythtv-setup it
defaulted to /dev/v4l/video0 so I chose that for the PRV-150 and chose
video1 for the PVR-250. When I attempted to save it it told me the
default channel was channel 3 but channel 3 didn't exit. I have never
seen that problem before.

When I run the frontend I seem to be getting a bunch of the lower
over-the-air channels. (2-13) However I am not receiving video
anything above 13. I am seeing the program guide.

I checked on my TV and cable is working correctly so there should
be video I think.

I has been a long, long time since I've messed at this depth with
myth.I do remember that there was a way to cat video at the command
line to a file. I tried that for /dev/v4l/video0 and got static so I
presume those are the wrong devices but I'm not sure what to use
instead.

For kicks I also tried cat /dev/video1 >test0.mpg but got similar static.

I've attached the dmesg output for IVTV at the end of this message.
It doesn't say what /dev device things are hooked to.

Does any of this strike someone as familiar? I hope so.

Thanks again, in advance, for any help you can lend.

Cheers,
Mark
